Gday all

I've beginning to develop a taste for SPs and breaming lately and am thinking about fitting a leccy on my 4.1m V bottom tinny.

Do i need to fabricate/have made a mounting point or bracket on the bow section of my boat?

How much power do i need to push around a fairly wide heavy 13 footer?

Any extras i need to know without starting brand related coogee bay ice cream sundae.

Questions and answers.

Maybe but the quick release plates you by to go with them can be mounted on the nose if there is room and metal to bolt to.

54lb thrust minimum. That will usually be 12volt ie. one battery. Any bigger and it will be a 24v two battery job.

Any extras i need to know without starting brand related coogee bay ice cream sundae.

100 amp hour batteries minimum. Inline 50amp fuse for 54LB'er. Decent charger for batteries ie 15Amp plus.

They are all good and all have there problems. Watersnakes are a little noiser than the others.

Hope that gets you started.

You will have no trouble at all pushing a 13 footer around with 44lb. This is also the size that seems to be heavily reduced in price a couple of times a year whilst the 54lb doesnt ever seem to be on special.

If you are never going to take it off there is no need for a quick release bracket. I found on the tinney that if you mount it on a piece of 5mm rubber the noise is greatly reduced (not that they are deafening or anything).
