Salami Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Fished good old Botany Bay today in search of a few kingfish , with all the reports it was decided a friday fish was on the cards .... Picked up some livies and had a look at all the general kingfish haunts , Towed livies around for what felt like hours when the Rod buckled and the reel started screaming . Now i was glad i choose the saragoosa reel and bluerose rod combo with 80lb line this morning as im sure this fish would have busted me off . Well luck was on my side and a 10 kg king was in the boat . Sadly it was the only fish for the day..... Cheers Dogtooth .... John... mate, i'd love a day when SADLY this is the only fish caught....... awesome
ORES Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Well done mate. thinking of heading out there myself on Monday
jewgaffer Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Excellent work Dogtooth. That's a pretty good size kingfish mate. Cheers jewgaffer
Tony Soprano Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Great fish mate! What bait did it eat? Cheers Tony
nemu Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 That is fair for a kingy have you caught ones in the bay like that before? its good to see larger fish about lately as I crew on broadbill I see a few fish from time to time and for Sydney it is a good fish but I can recall that once opon a time you would move from such fish because they were annoying as these fish will get to and over 30kg and as a kid dad would often bring back fish over 40pd or so from the peak its taken a long time for them to get over their decimation of the floating traps and I'm hoping to see the day we see 25kgplus kings again off Sydney but untill that day arrives fish like yours will do it is well done to pull one like this from the shallow water in the bay you must off had some drag on your threadline we use the same reels on Broady.
