beachwormer Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Just had an enjoyable couple of days with family at Gerroa. Managed to pull some worms on Seven Mile Beach and had a cast at Werri Beach yesterday arvo and this morning. Some bites with no hookups yesterday and not even a bite this morning, which was surprising using live beachworms. Werri Beach has a deep drop-off at the waters edge. Have not fished there before, any locals know it? It looks prime beach jew locale. What has happened to whiting fishing on the East Coast? When I was a kid, even on the crowded Sydney beaches, if you had live worms you could keep catching whiting until you got sick of them. Now 3 or 4 is big catch. Very disappointing.

I fish for whiting on the south coast every year periodically between november to the end of february and manage to pick up very decent bags of good sized fish...hope they are still there this year, I'm heading down in about a week, you've made me nervous.. cheers

You were just on the wrong beach. Seven mile is the go for whiting . You should have sayed right where you got the bait! Stallo
beachwormer Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 Thanks for the replies guys. I will try 7 mile next time! It didn't matter too much I was fishless. That part of the coast is drop dead gorgeous, with the rolling green pastures right up to the waters' edge. And we had some damn fine sausages and chops on the BBQ! I will return!
