Salami Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hit the water with my mate Flute this morning. After picking up some livies at Barrenjoey (no kingies sighted) & a squid we headed for long reef. After burleying hard in close for a couple of hours for a couple of runs (rats) & a nice 50cm trevalley we decided to slowly head north home. we noticed some birds working opposite Narrabeen in 35metres & decided to sound it out. The sounder looked very busy & turned out to be droves of slimeys - football fields of them. after getting a few in the tank we decided to downrig a few around & see what was rounding them up. After 2 serious runs resulting in bust ups we weren't sure what was going on- big kings? . lucky 3rd, we decided to use a wire trace & the following bronzy was raised after about 30 minutes......... We estimated it at about 2 metres long. after googling the species it is estimated at 100kg + We cut it off to live another day.
Josh88 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Nice Shark. They can be stubborn those bronzies, nice you got to see what busted you off though-your one of only a few. Josh

Flute Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Nice fish batler, hope the Flute didn't scare him away, being bronze too!!! Swiss Hey SB. The Flute has got the monkey off his back. Didnt even have our good luck charm the Greek on the boat. The Bronze Whaler was eyeing off the Salami - he's the perfect eating size....
