mrsswordfisherman
We are on our annual trip to Glenbawn. Arrived at 2.30pm and were on the water by 4pm. No rain so far and 30 degrees. Outdoor Dan and johnno launched in one boat and swordie and I in ours. Geoff and Lyn (Dalucius and Mr Dalucius) discovered their battery was flat and made a quick trip to town to buy a new one. They did not join us for the afternoon session. We hastily rigged up and chose a selection of colours - green, purple and red spinnerbaits. I used the green. Arsey swordie first cast and he is on, Outdoor Dan commenced his assault on the bass 10 mins later. I looked around and noticed swordie was using my fireblood and rod with a purple spinnerbait so I took back possession of it. Immediately I was on also The bass were smashing the purple spinnerbaits so we continued happily catching bass for the next 2 hours. The score so far is Team Swordies -12 bass Team Mercury Cowboys - 9 bass Team Double Dutch - yet to open their account Here are a couple of snaps First cast swordie Boys at play Mercury Cowboy Capture Flag Off to enjoy a BBQ dinner now - life is tough Cheers swordies et al

slinkymalinky
Team Swordies are cleaning up! Being on first name terms with all the bass probably helps. Sorry to hear about the battery drama team Dutch... I know you were probably just lulling the Swordies into a false sense of security before a late charge. What are you doing Johnno?? Maybe too much time admiring that motor and not enough chasing the bass? Looking forward to seeing the full report and pics when you get back. Cheers, Slinky
jewgaffer
........Tally stands at Team Swordies - 38 Team Mercury Cowboys - 15 Team Dutch - 5 ......Out again this morning Cheers mrsswordfisherman Team Swordies 38 fish - daylight to Johnno at 15 - and a gap to team Dutch with 5 fish and it's only just started. Donna and Stewy should be placed on handicap to make winning near impossible by only being allowed to fish with bait. Cheers jewgaffer
arpie
Hope they leave some for me to catch!! I am going over tomorrow to have a go in my Hobie (for a few days!!!) This will be my first time there since catching a 50cm one on yabby some 5+ years ago (from the bank.) Will stick to sps, hbs & spinnerbaits this time tho! A couple of yakking buddies will be joining me at various times during the day! Hope to get out early & late to see 'how the pros do it'! Will catch up with the Swordies too! Maybe some of their 'luck' will rub off onto me! Wish me luck!! Roberta
Jewhunter
Good luck Roberta! I'm sure you will catch plenty & have a ball. Stewy will be full of top tips I'm sure. Dreamtime
Are these bass good table fish? I think I caught one up above Townsville a few years ago but it was very small and went back to fight another day. Had to settle for the damper and billy tea for lunch that day. glennmreid
i've been told they taste muddy. not sure if a dam caught or wild bass would taste any different.
Hodgey
Bass are great on the plate IMO. Pearl white flesh, moist and sweet. Nowadays I release all bass and EP's, but it is not bcause they are poor table fare. Cheers Hodgey
