Idol threats
Hi All Took Friday off work and headed down south to Cullburra to try our luck outside. On arriving the weather was sh... house and the ocean looked like a washing machine on steroids, decided to hit the local bowling club for a few beers and pray that the weather gods would change there minds and give us a crack at the open seas in the morning. Saturday woke around 5am to a star lit sky and no wind , the gods are on our side so we pulled the cover off the Bar crusher and headed to the ramp , 5.30am sees us heading out the bar and looking at an almost flat ocean. We decided to give the live baits a miss and head straight over to the surf club and drift the flathead grounds for about an hour and came up trumps , we would have caught 40 fish each , didnt keep all of the fish (would like to leave some for everyone else or another day) all fish caught where all legal and not to metion fat. We kept half a dozen biggest went 65cm and looked like a shovel. Got sick of catching flathead and moved to another spot about 5km out and found a reef that was not on any maps that I had so we threw in a couple of lines and did the drift down the guts of the reef , bang off goes my rod and a few minutes later a huge blue mowong , next went my mates rod and the mother of all mother in law fishes the largest sargent baker i have ever seen , we quickly got him off the line and threw him back to the depths. Headed back up the drift and started to berly of course this brought the birds in and it wasent long before one of us caught one, on retriving the strugling bird a large shark that must have been smelling our berly decided that this looks like an easy feed and gulped down in one almighty mouth full , this went on with a couple of other birds that where floating around the back of the boat. After seeing this and not wanting to catch the shark we decided to move over to the south side of this new and unexplored reef and found a nice rise in the water of about 10meters , threw the lines over and bang off the goes the rod and 5 mins later we have a small shark compared to the other one this one was about 1mtr and a half , decided that we would keep him and cook him on the BBQ. Threw the tail rope on him so we could drown it and be able to lift it into the boat so we started to motor out and we would have moved about a 100 mtrs and the tail rope that is tied off the back of the boat shakes and goes realy slack on invistigation the shark that was on the end is now only half the shark it use to be. Scary stuff great day out and lots of unusual sightings and lots of fun , next trip South West Rocks Feb 25th for two long weeks cant wait. Idol threats
Idol ThreatsWhat size is the bar crusher? and what motor did you put on it? Thanks Patrick 33074[/snapback] Hi Patrick The mighty Bar Crusher is 5.8 mtrs with a beam 2.15 mtrs I placed a 100 hp 4 stroke Yamaha she goes well but I would recomend putting on a 115hp just for the extra power as the top speed on mine is only 45kms , this is still pushing us along nicely when loaded with three people plus fishing gear. The ride and handling is awsome. Are you looking at buying one? Regards Matt
