Hi everyone, I have a Nitro Vapour 7ft and need a reel to match for SP fishing. budget of around $200. Ive been looking at the Daiwa Tierra 1500, but am also considering the shimano stradic 1500 or 2000 if available.

Any unbiased help would be much appreciated!

I just bought the same rod and it matches really nicley with TD Advantage 2000. I was looking at the Tierra reel but the Advantage just felt nicer. You should be able to pick them up for just over $200 now, or even spend an extra $20 or so and get a Sol. Ia lso looked at the Stradic, they are a very nice reel but not as smooth as the Advantage or Sol.

Have you used the rod at all? Still haven't christened mine yet.

Hi Slaka, the Nitro Vapour is a dream to use:) I have landed a 47cm flattie on it a few days ago and it performed beautifully. It takes no effort at all to cast a mile with 6lb braid. Im sure you will enjoy it very much.

Thanks for the info on the reels and happy fish hunting!!!

Hi, How much was the rod and where did you pick it up from?

Hi RPL, it was $400 from compleat angler. Any idea on what real to match it with for around $200?

I have the Stradic 1000.

I was a little concerned at first at using a smaller real than I was used to but after a session with a mates I was sold. Havent had a problem with it since I got it.

I wouldnt be using the tackle shop mentioned though. I find them a little overpriced on almost all their gear. Give GoFish Pete a call. Its where I picked up mine at pretty good price.

I just had a look at the specs on the rod and its very light so I would match it with a light reel

For around the $200 a 1000 stradic sounds about right

Take the rod with you when buying a reel and fit the reels you are looking at to the rod and you may find the reel will pick itself You will know when the right reel is on the rod be it daiwa or shimano

But when it comes down to your purchase rest assured that whatever you will get will be quality.

FTR i have a Shimano Stradic 1000, landed salmon to 65cm on it and flathead to 80cm on it so it can handle big fish, I have had it for a year and there is only one issue, the handle has some play nothing performance wise just a niggling problem that is more annoying than anything else.
