Lukeanna Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Hey roberta, as raiders resident fish catcher in Forster Tuncurry, can you tell me has the lake come alive yet? We will be up there for week in December, and also over Cristmas, doesn't really matter if the fishings slow, we just love the place anyway.
Lure'em Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Hi, My family go up to a van in Forster in the holidays, especially for a few weeks in the New Year and the fishing's always great. We usually get a lot of nice bream and the odd nice sized flattie. You can also get a lot of live mullet because the schools come through occasionally. Good luck and tight lines Jack
Lukeanna Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Thanks Jack, my family has just brought a little shack at Coomba Park and we are still finding our way around the place, last time we were up there we must have caught at least 30 baby Flatties, so hopefully they are grown up by Chrissy!! Matt
olitay Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Thanks Jack, my family has just brought a little shack at Coomba Park and we are still finding our way around the place, last time we were up there we must have caught at least 30 baby Flatties, so hopefully they are grown up by Chrissy!! Matt Matt, are there any shops at Coomba Park>?
Lukeanna Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Olitay, there is a small general store that sells fuel, bait, cold dinks and beer etc. And my wife reckons they make a pretty fair Latte as well. It is a really quiet little village, with heaps of Kangaroo's, (more roo's than people I reckon) we have, on more then one occassion, had to move them away from the clothes line in the back yard to hang stuff up.
slicendice Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Plenty of big flatties in Smiths Lake. Got busted off by a big one this morning
Lukeanna Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Hey Slicendice, we have never fished Smiths, but we had a coffee at the cafe there and the young fella serving us said they had just opened the lake to the ocean again as it was start to get to high, he also said that the prawns and bream were going mad. I reckon we will give it a try over christmas
arpie Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Hi Lukeanna Sorry for the late reply - been away for a few days, chasing bass at Glenbawn There are some terrific flatties in the lake & lots of bream & the whiting should be firing soon, if not already!! you will have terrific fun popping & luring for bream over Coomba way, as it is far 'less fished' than the Forster/Tuncurry area!!! That is where lots of the pros go to fish for bream in the comps! Give me a yahoo when you come up & we should be able to hit the water together! I could even drive over & bring the yak for a popping go?? CHeerio Roberta
glennmreid Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 some big flathead and whiting in the lake. Even a chance of a Jew off the breakwall. If you are into blackfishing, plenty of them to chase around.
Lukeanna Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 Thanks everyone for the replies! Roberta, We have a Quinne Dory but my brother is looking into buying a yak as a christmas present for his wife . But I would love to catch up for a fish, I have seen a couple of blokes in tricked up boats throwing SP around the Oyster Leases, so I will give it a red hot go when we get up there. I have broought some 3" Gulp Shrimp and Shads in Nuclear Chicken, on a recommendation from some blokes at work. Thanks again everyone
arpie Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Great to hear there'll be a yak in the family!! There are a few topics here regarding which one to go for ..... some are better than others! Great for stealth fishing tho! Hope to catch up Roberta
