Make sure you get a copy of the Marine Sanctuary Maps - a lot of Byron is now Off Limits for fishos, both land and boat based ...... (including the 2nd half of the beach heading towards the lighthouse end of the main beach, past the surf club!) There is one very small sign that indicates the 'no go zone' but it is basically where the rocks start to show, before that 'lagoon' area, virtually at the last path from the road.

Take all your fishing gear with you, as there is now no dedicated fishing tackle shop there any more!
