knuckle Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 BassHappy, How are you mate? Looks like you found some good looking spots there. I fished the nepean in my Kayak the other day for the first time around the boat ramp under the motorway did manage a few small Bass but they seemed as big as the lure they hit, did get alot of boat traffic from waterskiers which was annoying! Have read good reports from down stream of the ramp away from the power boats casting in close to the structure useing spinnerbaits mainly. Good luck with it. Cheers Knuckle. P.S Check your PMs

P.S Check your PMs Hi there could either of you tell me how to get to this Nepean lake,I love bass fishing and would love to check it out. I live out on the northshore so any directions from there would be appreciated. thanks
Flightmanager Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 The Nepean is not a lake , but a river . Form the North Shore , travel down to the M4 and follow it west . Take the Mulgoa Rd exit , then follow the signs to Tench Reserve. When you get to the river , be wary of the narrows about 1 mile upstream. It is shallow , and there are hidden rocks. Ross
miller Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 hi mate i do all my bass fishing an hour before dark then a couple of hours into the night i use sureface walkers 99% of the time and have good results this year average fish is around the 30cm mark and have had sum unstoppables steal my lure i fish the wier and down river from there just landbased fish any over hanging trees or structure cheers miller
slayer666 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 nice bass there mate and to the site Cheers Joe
nick bayley Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Welcome Basshappy Plenty of options for fishing the nepean both land based and by boat. Took my boat three weeks ago a nailed this beauty along with about ten others all before the narrows. Last week i put my waders in the ute and hit up below the weir with surface lures as Miller said, just before dark, for five bass to 30cm. You could always join a club such as HawkesburyNepeanBassAnglers that way you can learn from more experienced fishos and should be able to hook up a seat on someones boat Or else get yourself a yak and start exploring. Good luck.
tide'n'knots Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 welcome basshappy, heres a tip - look for snaggy areas that look fishy such as fallen or submerged trees or boulders etc, and once the sun is up fish the shaded dark side of the river, try and get your lure as close to the snags as possible. good luck. pete.
locodave Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I've never been up that way to the Nepean, but sure does look nice!

Dan1977 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Thanks Ross may go there this weekend.Do you know what other fish species you could find in the river. cheers Wayne G'day mate Apart from Bass you can get carp, bully mullet, freshwater mullet, eel tailed catfish, eels and a mate of mine once got a bullrout on a lure - don't touch em if you get one though! On a side note I went for a bass fish down at Norton's basin and had the same luck I have had all season - 5 small fish, two not much bigger than the diver I was using. Where have all the big bass gone folks? TG
glennmreid Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I've been fishing the gorge, and most fish not much bigger than the lure. Not sure what is happening.
