Danielsan Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 My husband & I are off to Treachery this Saturday and we are pretty ordinary fisherpeople! Can anyone tell us what is biting? No worries. Beach Fishing - Jewfish, Salmon Tailor and Sharks (Grey Nurse and Bronze Whalers). Just use a single/double hook rig with squid or pillies to catch the salmon and tailor, and then use them as livies - heavier gear required once again. Treachery Point - hard to get to, but good for Kings/Cobia/Tuna if very lucky) - if they're around. Live baits under floats - but you'll need some heavy heavy gear. Kings + Rocks= Bust-Offs + Disappointment + Lost Gear. 60-80lb leaders are a must The water should be up around the 20 degree mark, so there'll definitely be more bait fish and activity than 2 months ago when I was last there. Word of warning - treachery is very very basic. you've got to take bait and fresh water. The 8 story high dune that has to be scaled before you reach the beach will certainly let you kow you;re alive! Have a great trip! Dan
Lougav Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Thanks Dan - that's really helpful. We know Treachery very well so are well prepared for our stay. I will ensure I have a drink to your advice! Cheers
