sails Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Hi Raiders, I dropped down to the entrance of the lake this afternoon at 1700 to see how bad the sand buildup was , as reported by Nanook earlier this week. the pics should tell the story. , It was one hour past low tide on the beach, but the lake was holding a lot of water as it cant get out easily. I could see mullet , small blackies, bream and whiting hanging around the rocks near the outlet, but all were small. Pray for a big dump to open it up again, so the fish can come in from the sea again. cheers Sails
arpie Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Hi Sails Shame to see the lake not flowing freely - as you say, a big rain dump should open it again ..... the buildup from any rain received in the last day or two could do the trick! We've been getting steady rain up here all day & should get more tomorrow - hope you get some too ...... sort of Sometimes it is a good time to get into the fishing, tho as the sealed up lakes can fish better than when open to the sea! Fish around the structure/bridge pylons or weed beds & drop offs ..... never know what may jump onto the hook! Cheers Roberta
nargse1 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 i was thinking of taking my new yak up there on sun for another test run and try out my newly made rocket lauchers and straps. do you think its a bad idea or go try out my luck??? never fished narra lakes but drove past the other day... looks good for yakking????? any suggestions??? Roberta great interview in sport fishing mag:) good to see the raider and A#$% props too:) cheers damo
sails Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Hi Damo, its a good spot to kayak in, easy launching, big enough to test out your fitness and to satisfy your needs of draging a lure around, or to throw a few soft plastics around. Especially good if you are new to the yak and need to test out your systems. I have heard it said that there are fish in there also!! Good luck if you do venture out, let us know the results. Cheers Sails (Cam)
yakfishing Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I can vouch for there being fish in there! I fish there most of the time. Great spot for flatties (big buggers!), lots of bream, tho finding the biggns can be difficult, theres the odd jew (so I hear) nothing huge tho, whiting, blackies and various other critters. I usually fish the back of the lak cuz its quieter and more serene, Ive attached a map of where I launch. Around the entrance is good aswell tho and thats where the blacks hang out. Theres a good article on narra here http://www.fishraider.com.au/fishing-artic...abeen-lakes.php Great spot to get used to your yak, you dont want to jump into the hard stuff without knowing your limits and Narra is pretty forgiving. I'd suggest just take some plastics and flick around the weedbeds you should find some flatties.
donjuarez Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 For the record, tried the flats near the caravan this morning for zero... tried a variety of placcies, only one came back with it's tail half chewed off... Tried switching to blades for a bit too without much success. Might try the back of the lake next time.. heard there's been a few flatties caught...
