Down Rigging

Raiders,

After reading several reports over the past couple of weeks about the success of down rigging for Kingfish in the bay I thought it was time to get aboard the down rigging train. I read a post about a home made downrigger so off I went and bought myself a 3lb bomb, some thin gauge rope and a release clip (Poor mans downrigger).

Anyway my plan is to go out tomorrow morning round up some yakkas and possibly a squid or two. (I’m useless at catching squid so will probably just end up with the yakkas) and down rig around the container wall and red markers.

Questions:

What speed should I be travelling when down rigging?

What depth should I be fishing?

How do I rig a yakka for down rigging (I was think single hook through the nose???)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
