Quinnie480 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Raiders, After reading several reports over the past couple of weeks about the success of down rigging for Kingfish in the bay I thought it was time to get aboard the down rigging train. I read a post about a home made downrigger so off I went and bought myself a 3lb bomb, some thin gauge rope and a release clip (Poor mans downrigger). Anyway my plan is to go out tomorrow morning round up some yakkas and possibly a squid or two. (I’m useless at catching squid so will probably just end up with the yakkas) and down rig around the container wall and red markers. Questions: What speed should I be travelling when down rigging? What depth should I be fishing? How do I rig a yakka for down rigging (I was think single hook through the nose???) Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Quinnie 480.
