Hi Jewy, old Glastrons are great boats and our family have had a few over the years. As with any boat make sure the floor and transom are solid and the oild girl on the back is mechanically sound. The V4 are legendary outboards and would push that boat nicely. What are they offering it for? Cheers, Huey.
flatty hunter626 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 the glastrons are awsome boats i had hueys old one and was extremely stable at rest and got up and ran fairly well with a 40hp on the back for fish. as huey said they are shockers for rotten transoms and rotten floors which i had to replace both on mine but isnt that much of a hassle and you learn alot about the best while doing it. hope it works out for the best . cheers flatty hunter
IWANNABROCK Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Thank's Craig and Flatty hunter,Have not talked price yet,but supposed to be cheap. would that size boat be suitable for off shore work? Now that I am up at Taree I would like to get into off shore work out of Crowdy head for reef and small game fish.

Hi Mate, on a good day the 18 foot Glastron would be fine to duck outside for a fish. I would not want to go say 20 miles offshore due to the low freeboard, but most US boats have the same problem. The outboard would want to be sound also because even though the boat might be safe, having the old girl break down out there does not help. I would be thinking under $4K would be what I would want to pay if the boat/ engine and trailer was sound and all in rego. Cheers, Huey.
