taloyoak Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Just a quick report. Yesterday, went to Nth Whale beach rocks- I call the spot Greenies, someone once called it that, anyway. first cast landed a nice Blackie about 45cm's, then nothing for about 1.5 hr's. Then I hooked up to a massive Pig, and managed to keep him on for 4-5 mins of sheer terror. I had 8lb leader, thought he'd snap me off, but I got him to the surface and saw him- he was HUGE!, then my knot failed at the hook. A Palomar. I was pissed off but at the same time real happy that I almost won that fight. Always on light line...hmmmm. Then after that all I could get was the Sweep convention. Crappy conditions, windy and big waves. This morning I got there at 10am, near top of tide, and there were a few guys out on the point to my right spinning for Pelagics- they caught some big Kingfish, I think upto about 1 meter, and a few Trevally and Tailor. There were lots of baitfish even where I was fishing in the suds. Today the conditions were terrible for me and my spot, a massive rip, big waves and couldn't hook anything except Sweep. I did however manage to catch a 50cm Kelpfish with my hands as he had got himself stuck in a gutter- pretty funny!. Was amazed at those big Kings these guys were catching, nice!. I just got a good soaking and worked on the tan. Tomorrow, I think I will hit Kirribilli for Surgeons and Blackies. The stones are giving me bad vibes. Hope everyone had a productive weekend. Cheers, Matt
bobfish Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Great report there Nanook Did you see what those guys were getting the kings on? I was up at the crack of dawn live baiting and managed 2 massive tailor, the biggest going 75cm's that took a 25cm yakka, but alas no kings
