How Much Braid To Put On Spool

Hi raiders,

just bought a shimano bait runner 6500 and would like to load it with 50lb braid.

just wondering how much braid should I load on to this bait runner, I was thinking around 300 metres or is this over kill.

if u only using it 4 jew its prob 2 much.. get a 300 spool and use only half of it... but back the spool up with some mono.. u should be able 2 estimate pretty roughly so ur braid is nice and thick at end........

if u were bottom bouncing offshore id say leave all 300m.. u only need 2 be bitten off 5 times in 60M of water.. even if its half way up from the jackets.. there goes 150m.......

what brand braid are u running mate?

Probably use tuf yellow braid 50lb mate.

Go the 300m spool mate, every now and then you will loose bits of braid, if you go for a spool of 120m and you get chopped off with 50m out then you need to throw out the remainder and start again... with 300m, once you have lost a bit and the spool is not full, just add some more backing which is cheap.

Ive got a 4500 baitrunner with 10kg line.... works fine with jews mate....

300 m is plenty!!!!!!!!!!
