Gday Nargse1 bass fishing awsesome fun, even small fish pull like trains. With the popularity of spin gear these days you would be mad not to use one. A lightish rod 2 to 4kg and some good braid of around 6 to 8 lbs loaded onto a half decent spin reel will get you into the action. A lot of lures used to target bass are very light in weight and can be hard to cast on bait casters unless you are proficient with them. Stick to the spin rod for now but dont discount the bait caster if you already have one. Most bass fisherman love to use surface lures but I have had most success using a small bets spin fitted with a small 50mm atomic curl tail grub in motoroil . Give it a go mate you will love it. cheers troutboy

hi man if im river fishing i use my bream gear 1-3kg rod 1000 reel and 1-3lbs braid

dam fishing beef it up abit especilly if fishing in the sticks

poppers/crawlers are a great way to target bass the surface strike is awsome early morn or late arvo into night only or your wasting your time if you ask me

when useing divers i prefer small lures like chubbys sx40 so on knowls lures are very productive to hard to find but once again all day long method for bass

plastics are antother great way to fish deeper water actuall all water but i prefer useing them in the deeper water can be used all day long

and everyones well not mine fav. the spinnerbait highly effective any time of the day if you dont mind throwing coat hangers around

hope this helps out abit if your ever out west or planing a trip to the nepean land based give me a yell if you want ill show you around abit

even better if you can get your hands on a yak lots of places you cant get to by land or on a boat
