The Poacher
Hi All, Went out from Terrigal today. Took forever to catch a measely 7 yakkas. Went down to Copa in a shocking wind chop (so much for the Sea Breeze optimistic forecast) anyway there were plenty of Kings there and the yakkas were gone in 10 minutes. Not one over 65. One consolation salmon to take home for the missus. Lots of fun on the plastics. To top it off I got sea sick for the first time in 10 years - then as I was putting the boat back on the trailer, the handle slid off the winch as I was winding and swung around and it me in the jaw. Damn well nearly broke it. I debated whether to "out" myself with this piece of amateurism, but I thought that it might help other raiders avoid the sore jaw I am sitting here with now. Regards, The Poacher
james7
You're right about the rats Poacher. That's all I could find on Wednesday, but yes, lots of fun! As for your "amateurism", I nearly broke my thumb with the winch handle when I got my first boat. Very sore for days. It's worse if there's a crowd there to witness it! Cheers Peter
copafisher
Sorry to hear no legal kingies were caught Poacher, there has to be some larger ones about. Did you get any kingies on plastics after the yakkas ran out ? Might have to give the rocks a go if I dont get the boat out this weekend. Havent got the jaw yet (I tend to keep my head clear ), but the knuckles have copped some hits Cheers copafisher Edited December 5, 2008 by copafisher
The Poacher
Hi Copafisher, The fish were all over the 6" sluggos and green flickbaits in about the same size, so we didnt really need the livies. There were several patches of fish, but all the same size. That often happens at Copa and I only fished there instead of my regular spots as the weather was so bad. copafisher
Thanks Poacher. Would you launch from terrigal by yourself, if swell etc is suitable ? I normally put in around Bris water but now the young bloke has got some size and confidence driving the boat we should be able to manage Terrigal together. Will have to get out from Terrigal more this year, now I just have to convince a teenage boy to wake up early on the weekend . Hope to see you out there sometime soon.
