Typical of our non-thinking state government. Let's just "legislate" to look "green" but not actually think of the consequences. I refuse to put E10 in our cars, let alone boat or mowers etc. I have an expensive E-Tec which I WILL NOT jeopardise using ethanol fuels (even though the manual says it is permissable up to 10%). The risk of water contamination is too great. Oh well.....I guess we will all have to use premium then.....they're not touching that.....yet... Hi Mate, I agree with you and if so it will cause issues, not with your E-TEC- as you stated they are designed to run on E10, but the problems happen with the boats fuel system. In older boats E10 will damage the fuel tank and fuel lines. If this does happen, you will need to make sure you have good late style fuel line, preferably 3/8, and have a good water seperating fuel filter installed in the boat. In cars E10, not being near water does not cause much problems with phase seperation, but of course boats are another issue. Just another blow for us boaties and really the way the EPA regulates this industry is already over the top. With the tough emissions that the clean engines now meet we are way ahead of the curve and really I have read reports where in the scheme of these the pollution from marine engines is so small it is hardly registerable on the scale of offenders. Cheers, Huey.
Juggs
a car generally uses its tank of fuel in a week, and is then refilled, a car also doesnt have 2 stroke oil added to it. this will mean after each trip i will have to run carbs dry and empty the tank and flush with metho, as i only get out every3-4 weeks. as my tank has breathers it will conintually expand and contract drawing humid air into the tank being an aluminium tank this then has the issue of oxidisation so i cant win will a water fuel seperator take out water that has been absorbed into the ethanol component? i didnt think they did but hey with the marine park proposal i gues si wont need aboat anyway lol
