Hi Guys, im looking at biting the bullet and spending some big dollars on a nice Stella, most of my gear is mediocre - stradics, Sols etc, but i really want something to battle with big Kings on the occasion.

I guess the questions are:

Are they worth their value?

Is there something better for similar value? Daiwa perhaps?

I just want something to jig offshore, live bait and downrig?, something that wont let me down.

Any help would be great.

Nice thread mate... going to get one myself...

Looking at the 8000, hopefully i can pick up the older model somewhere..

Gonna jig offshore, and gonna land those bloody harbour kings that keep busting me off all the time.

Check this report using the stella 8000 >>>>HERE<<<<

Yes The stella is a top reel But you can buy 3 saragoosa 1800f for the price of one reel . My saragoosa has landed over 100 plus kings in three months and is still going strong . . And they were all legal fish plus a few over the metre mark . . Now the way i see it is in 2 years time there will be something even bigger and better out on the market so a saragoosa is not going to fall apart sometime soon especially when you have 10 years of warranty. . And the drags do go to 20kg but staying in the boat is your next option... :074::074:

Hope this helps .... John :1fishing1:

Hi,

I've got the old model 8000 with 50lb braid. Love it, never had an issue with it. I reckon it is a great size in a larger reel. Never need a bigger one around Sydney.

Not sure whether the new models are an improvement or not???

All the best with it

Andrew

Definatley the stella 8000 mate, I think the 20000 would be a bit big for what im after...

Im in the same boat as you.

Dont really need anything bigger in sydney for the kingys unless your cubing up YFT.

Downrigging , livebaiting , great reel and would reduce the bust ups .

Those bloody sydney kings aint getting smaller every year....
