bulldogsgonnagetu
Hi Fellow Fishraiders I am new to this forum and was looking for some help on land based spots to target a decent catch. I mainly go for Whiting using Blood or tube worm but i am also looking to hook onto some kings and Jews. I have just purchased a new beach rod and have set up 20pd mono with 50 pd leader , pyramid sinker and gangs. I have been out a number of times latley and come back with nil. Any help on good landbased spots in Southern Sydney would really be appreciated . End of the day i would luv to catch anything from Good whiting, bream or the prize catch of a king or Jew. Cheers Bulldogsgonnagetu Hi bulldogsgonnagetu to Fishraider Wanda Beach is one of the best beaches, if not the best in my opinion for fishing for jewfish in the southern suburbs. It's best to set up about an hour or so before the top of the tide and fish the run out tide when it occurs in the late afternoon or during the night and it's best to leave at sunrise. When the general bite stops, hang in there regardless, jewfish have a habit of suddenly coming on when everything else goes dead and you're about to give up. You can also catch tailor, salmon and whiting at Wanda. When fishing the surf for bream, it's best to fish where the surf meets rocks of some sort, even beaches that only have isolated clusters generally always hold bream. Around Cronulla pool is a good example of rocks meeting sand and it is a very underestimated fishing spot, one where you can catch a variety of take home fish. As to fishing for kingfish you need structure where there is depth in close for those. For example deep water can be commonly found at the base of high cliffs. However, if you're new to rockfishing, it would be best to have someone with you who has had lot of experience with everything associated with it. There are other landbased spots in areas adjacent to Wanda, such as the Georges and the Port Hacking River, Wanda jew activity is a good guage for some of them. Send me a pm for the exact spots if you like. These particular spots will not effect other land based fishermen. Cheers jewgaffer
