jewgaffer Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) hey guys Just putting a pole up to see who thinks a double is necessary in braid 50lb and over. cheers steve Hi Kirks Doubled line knots in braid are all the more necessary particularly when you're thinking 50lb breaking strain and over. A soft lumo bead between a swivel and running sinker helps protect the braid knot from percussion and scuffing and weakening and the four wrap in the eye of the hardware takes the form of a sling, then even wraps above the eye of the hardware exhaust pressure and the breaking strain of the line takes over. Nolongeramember Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 hey guys Just putting a pole up to see who thinks a double is necessary in braid 50lb and over. cheers steve If you want good line strength its necessary all right. Its the strongest for braid. I wouldnt use anything but a plait or bimini twist.
nemu Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 hey guys Just putting a pole up to see who thinks a double is necessary in braid 50lb and over. cheers steve I'd use a double in braid for twisted or notted dog loop to loop leaders but for single strand leaders I tie a snell to snell I've found this works fine for me double or no double no I think they aren't really needed except for loop to loop leaders but others may beg to differ
