Ross Hunter
Raiders, At last we went fishing yesterday, what with gale forced winds lately that have kept us home each weekend, finally we get some great weather. We headed to Browns on a prospecting mission and at 11am I was wishing that I was'nt there, not a bite and never looking like getting one . So i decided to head to my favourite kingfish haunt to get out of trouble, if I could. We had a great team headed up by Brad White. Arriving at Hunter's Hill( a spot named after us by others because of the time the Hunter lads have spent there over the past 25 years) I sounded the pinicle and after 15 minutes I found a reasonable show of kings. Because of the 2 knot current we only got one drop on the spiral of schooled fish and then the process was repeated. We caught 20 kingfish and kept 10 We got out of jail again, thanks to our friends the hoodlums. The fish averaged 4 to 8kg. All were caught on Shimano eggbeaters and 30 lb braid a would be fishing tragedy ended up a beaut. day.
