Salmon_Hunter
I had purchased a new 5m centre Console boat. I had only taken it out into the Botany once before. I have been itching to get out, although the weather had been pretty crap when I have been available. I had one virgin fisherman on board. I was left dancing around assisting aiding and baiting almost the whole trip, as I also had my nephew and the old man on board. This was not a problem, as I was so happy just to be on the water. There was a good mixed Bag: 60cm Flatty 45cm x 3 flatty 47cm Trev a couple of nice flat leather jackets. There was a swarm of undersized Snappers, biggest ran about 28cm. Not one was oversize, although they kept the day interesting. As I was saying, there was a first timer on board(Hameed). He hooked onto the big flatty and was bring her home. I reached for the landing net only to hear a whole heaps of *((&*(&^**^*&^*%^%&, its gone. Ive been snapped off. I was pretty upset, as it would have been a great introduction to fishing, as I had seen colour and it looked pretty big. Im like dont worry, give me a min and ill rig you up again. While I doing my thing with my own rod, I hear him say casually that his rod was stuck? Stuck? I look at the tip of the rod and hes onto a fish, im like your STILL ON!!! Dropped my rod and reach for the net again. She looks a big girl and she fights for a short while on the way in. Once she surfaces. This is the wierd thing now, shes got a friend following. Hameed had surfaced her, ive gone and scooped the big one, and the second one hasnt moved, so I scooped that too. Mind you i rigged the rod up myself and had a running sinker with one hook only. I landed them booth only to realise that the big fish was looked and the little one came along for the ride. In saying that the friend was little, it was still a good 45cm. Definately a keeper! Let me just ask if anyone else has experienced such a thing? I know that Salmon will actually school and follow a friend that has been hooked for some time, although never seen anything go this far. Even after his friend had been landed. Fantastic day out. All on board were quite happy. Hameed over the moon having landed the big fat trev and the Big flatty. Beginners luck!! Could anyone advise how I can post pics?
