Waxy Coating Fireline

i remember reading somewere that you can remove the waxy coating on fireline while your spooling up !!!!!

anyone know how to do this ????

Hi craig, ive found that the first 10 meters or so after couple of fishing trips it wears away and gets a furry texture to the line. As far as getting it off the line while spooling, never heard of it.

Do you want to remove it on purpose ? In that case you might as well buy a normal braid like fins or something else instead . Eventually fireline softens up. And the good thing about the coating is that it helps prevent wind knots etc.

I used to have fireline, but I stay away from it now - it used to snap when it gets old and your tying knots.

I find that braid is much better, ask the guys who work in the tackle shops.

Yea my preference is Tuffline if over 10lb.
