Manning River Fishing Christmas Day

We went out on Christmas morning for our first fish in the Manning River around Harrington. Very beautiful area!

We were pretty much the only people in the river. Nice and calm with an incoming tide and slightly over cast. Rain was predicted but didn’t turn up thankfully.

We managed to get 5 flatties from the boat ranging between 40 – 55cms which made a nice xmas dinner. Also hooked a toady on a lure which was bizarre!

The day before we had a quick fish on the breakwall in Harrington but only caught heaps of undersize tailor that all went back.

Yet again the girlfriend out fished me! :ranting2:

Well done Ash & girlfriend!! Some top meals out of that lot!! Did you get them all on lures or bait?

I had a great day on the water on Xmas day too! :)

Harrington is lovely - but then again, every little hamlet on the coast is, too! :)

good job champ!

I was just there from the 27th nov to the 3rd of december. The breakwall has really HUUUUUGE flatties near the life saving building.

Have you seen the trophy above the counter at the baitshop at harrington

Crowdy head is a good five minutes drive and its worth it. caught a parma polylepis there

Hello,

Didn't see the trophy in the bait shop but checked out Crowdy Head. Looks great.

I grew up in the manning, and the last few weeks have been great. River and beaches are extremely clean for anyone who is interested in snorkelling.

My dads collected a couple of mud crabs, flathead, as well as myself getting a nice size bream. This time of year always seems good.
