Penguin
Where have u been placing it, some GPS's wont get a Sat fix if there are objects like canopies or glass between the GPS and the sky. Does yours have an external antena or is it capable of having one? penguin
Dorado 2
Hi Mate your navman might possibly need a software update I had some trouble with my car navigator and all it needed was a software update, I'm in the process of updating my chartplotter software as well. Hope this helps Cheers Edited December 27, 2008 by Dorado

chrisg
Arman Check the date and time is set correctly. The unit won't know what to latch onto if they are wrong. Cheers Chris Edited December 27, 2008 by chrisg
bisso
i would be checking the connection from the external antenna to the unit. if the unit has been gradually getting slower to get a gps fix, it seems like the connection may have been slowly deteriorating. also look at the condition of the external antenna, rusty connection, poor earth all might affect connection. hope this helps. cheers
Nick Hatz
Check your connections to the power supply. I have the navman trackfish6500 and would have issues with the gps dropping out while at sea. I spoke to navman and they suggested to look at these power connections. Have been out only once since then and it did not drop out all day. Worth a look because I know from my unit the red and black wires to connect to the power source are quite small and sometimes may not be connecting 100% all the time. glennmreid
Had the same thing happen to me once before. I went away for a few days break to Forster. I turned on my Navman GPS and could not get a lock on the satellites. It would search for them for hours, but not lock on them so it wouldn't show my position. After my trip, I thought I would just test the unit at home. Funny enough, it found satellites and showed my position. Not sure what happened whilst I was in Forster, it was bizarre.
