fishmaniac
As we are concluding 2008 and moving into another new year, i have been thinking abut all the great experiences i have had over this year. 2008 has been a great year. There have been many fantastic catches made by myself and many other fishraiders. And apart from the fishing, it has been great to spend some quality time with close friends and see them enjoy the thrills of fishing! At the start of the year, i first began to target kingfish. I was very pleased fishing several locations thoughout the harbour and scored many fish, my PB going at 82cm. I have fished everything from 30lb overhead outfits to 8lb spin gear with fresh squid and the PPP technique. In conclusion i would have to say the largest fish have all gone to nice fresh squid! Throughout the year, i have been keeeping myself amused with calamari. They are good fun and provide excellent eating and bait! Some days are better than other but over the year i have had some cracked days with some big really big specimins! As the water cooled and the kingfish action died away, i began to focus my attentions on other species. I tried the hawkesbury briefly for jewfish and managed my first legal jewfish. Not a cracked but still a pleasing result! By this time i was really focusing on getting my hands on some bigger fish. I had met a bloke called Ross through my good mate Adam who had a 6.5m sea legend and was not scared to go out to sea (the main difference between him and my old man). So with some discussion we decided it was only fitting to go out for some YFT with such a good season on the reports. On two trips i managed a 18kg YFT and a 37kg YFT. I was stoked and it was fantastic fun on a 40H Saltist loaded with braid!!!! Now the fishing is starting to hot up again with a lot of smal kingies. They are getting more and more line shy with many boats targeting them. I have found patience and attention to detail has proved the difference. It is fantastic fun on light gear and it has been wonderful to get my good mate kris and my girlfriend onto their first kingfish! And here is a keeper from this season at 73cm It's been a great year with some great fishing! I hope 2009 can be just as good for all raiders! Seagoon
Your surname isn't Dunkley by any chance is it?! hahaha You have a strong resemblance to him! They used to call Dunkley "Seinfeld", cause of his resemblance to Seinfeld - you have a bit of a resemblance to Seinfeld too! Happy new year mate! BTW, they are all complements ;-)
