Hi Guys

Got a call from a friend of mine that is new to the sport on Thursday afternoon and ask me if we could go fishing even though it was going to rain. Not scared of the rain but in a centre console with no cover it is no the best way to spend your day.

So took the gamble and Headed to gladsville for a fish, due to the poor weather and the strong wind warning, thought my try for the rare Jewfish.

With plenty of fresh bait, three bags of burley and plenty of pilies headed for the hole under the bridge (spot x).

Burley up and caught several yellow tail and three or four tailors for bait sent fresh strips and live yellow tail down to try to catch that big jewfish.

One hour in to our fishing trip the reel goes off like crazy the call was jewfish

So all the lines come up and trust it to be my new fisho friend rod that went off.

(I told him several days before that once you catch a king fish or a big jewfish you will straight away go buy a boat).

So three or four minutes go past several meters of line come off we see color and you bet it is a 68 cm king fish no one could believe it, it took a pilie tail on 10 pound line with a size 1 wide gap hook it was incredible who would imagine you would catch a king fish this far up the river.

Straight away change some of our gear put out bigger tackle and baits hoping for another lucky king fish.

Two hours past we caught heaps more under size fish snapper and small bream.

Then in a small patch we caught two legal bream one good size flathead and one legal flounder which went back.

The fishing went very quite we were low on pilies after using two bags and nearly one kilo of hawksbury pawns and several strips of yellow tails it was nearly time to go home

when the same guys rod goes off but this time he had swap me his rod and he was using my nitro magnabutt 4-6 kg stick the reel screamed for several meters,

We knew this was either a huge jewfish or another king fish and you bet you a 78 cm king fish comes up to the surface.

Took lots of photos stayed another hour and came home before the rain started.

If you look at the top left hand side of the picture you will see the the top of the bridge ie opposite side of the first shot taken. I might try this spot x tomorrow.

ha ha only joking mate-- top effort and a good read. :074:

I hate when people say spot x so on purpose i blured out the photos of two and clearly left out the first one and showed where i was and where the location was .

we drifted past the bridge and it is clearly id in the photo

I was just about to say why bother with the others if the first isn't... Waste of computer time... if you are that worried about spots taken, take the pics at the boat ramp and post those ones...

Anyway nonetheless....

Good kings mate, unlucky and know the feeling all to well about the new fisho catching 'that' fish.

Oh has he got a boat in mind yet?

Cheers

Ben
