UHF is generally a land type radio.

Was your question maybe directed to the difference between 27 Meg & VHF radios?

No, I am trying to find a hand held 27 meg radio but am being offered "27 meg UHF CB radios" which I am assurred will pick up the marine channels, but I was a bit sceptical!

G'day Lasty ,

There is no such animal !! :074::074::074:

Radio types are identified by the frequencies that they can transmit / receive on. These frequencies are :

MF ( Medium Frequency) 300 - 3000 kHz

HF ( High Frequency) 3 - 30 MHz

VHF ( Very High Frequency) 30-300MHz

UHF ( Ultra High Frequency) 300MHz upwards.

Marine radio equipment operates mostly in the MF, HF and VHF bands .

Therefore , a 27Meg radio CANNOT receive a UHF signal.
