alexit
Not many reports of late as I have had not much to report Weather looked ok this morning so I took some friends out on middle harbour to get a feed. Got out past grotto to find a nice looking day ahead but it just did not feel fishy..... Trolled round to dobroyd for zip then when over and finally found a lone calamari which soon went down at the wave bouy to feed the pickers...Nothing going out here so we moved in to my fav flattie spot in the north harbour to get that feed. Lots of interest from the boat bream but it took a BM colour change to get any action. The first took it hard and put me round the ropes The second put up a spirited fight but went only low 20's... The third flew out and came nose up to the unweighted BM...did the breambo staredown...one1thousand.two1thousand.three1thousand.CRUNCH.zzzzzzzzzzzz Between all this the other two pulled in 7 flatties with 5 keepers and the young lady got 'the first real fish apart from bait' and a first plastic capture Lots of other activity as well with a small school of legal+ kings making a way to brief appearence, the odd chopper boil round the boats, a lone small blue/green frigate?? zipping around the flats and something I thought I would never see this far into the harbour and in 3 foot of water..... not one but TWO green sea turtles! First I spot a small guy over the sea grass beds, he soons disappears then later his mum turns up. Not a good pic cause I pulled it from a short vid I got while following him round for abit. All up a great day! alex
Captain Pugwash
Excellent report Alex, I have to ask because I'm a nosey bugger. Where is that background? I don't have much luck at all with flatties in the harbour. They certainly aren't around the spots I frequent. Cheers Peter
Golden Monk
Would have been a nice day out there today even if not catching anything, got a feed at least. Can I just ask, Did you get the flathead on SPs?, if so, what kind? Thanks Edited March 5, 2005 by Golden Monk

It's North Harbour, which is jsut up the road from you and I. During mid week it makes for excellent flats fishing. The turtles were there last summer as well. alexit
mshad is on the money captainP, north harbour right up behind all the boats. If you want details, send me a PM. And congrates on that ripper kingie mate... All the fish were taken on plastic Gmonk. Yesterday they took the bigger squidgy wrigglers in natural colours and some kinda shad in orange/blue. Usually I go for natural colours but I really do not think it matters all that much mate, they seem to eat most anything that moves/flashes/wriggles in front of them. I have been getting quite a few from a $5 ottos bargin bin pack of 3" sliders.....pumpkinseed with a orange tail. The price is right and they lovem...they are my go-to when the flatties are on the menu. alex
