DarkHorse Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 G'Day Crew, Just wanted some opinions. Mate reckons that he would NOT eat any fish taken from Botany Bay or Port Hacking due to industrial waste, chemicals etc etc. To me the water system APPEARS very clean.............. I appreciate that there are restrictions from fish taken in the Harbour? So far I am mainly a catch and release person, but would not mind a feed of flatty, never tried Bream are they nice to eat? Thanks again. Rob
A.dawg Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 They are both safe to eat but in the bay the cooks river is no good but the hacking is like the cleanest waterway around A.dawg~~~
tumra Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 mate the only reason why i fish the hacking is because the water is so clean.... if i catch a legal sized fish in the hacking its always a keeper for dinner...
korg20000bc Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 The Hacking is excellent. One side of it is almost completely national park with no unnatural contaminants. Have no fear about the fish you get from it.
Davemmm Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 The water in the Hacking is totally polluted. The run off over the years from various enterprises is so bad that the fish themselves have all left the waterway. None of you should come down to fish it - especially tommorrow and Sunday between 5.30am and 10.00am. I implore you for the safety of you and your family find a much better river to fish. When it comes good I will call you all. Dave

I turned up at his place one evening, opened the boot and revealed a 14lb jewfish I had caught in the Hacking while he was sitting at home. He started ranting something about me needing a travel permit to enter the Shire from the Western Suburbs!
Davemmm Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 I slept in this morning and didnt get on the water till eight it turns out NONE OF YOU BUGGERS LISTENED TO ME. Please read previous post and take notice.
