post-4305-1233008444_thumb.jpgHi fellow raiders and anonymous guests,

after planning a trip and completing final preparations for a Saturday fish (24th of Jan) it was a very disapointing but a no brainer of a descision to cancel due to gale force winds, which were a welcome cooling to the 40 degree heat we were experiancing. Oh well postponed 24 hours and we were off to an evening of no wind and no work worries the next day so arrive at Foreshore road 8:30 pm and head off to spot X (described in one of my earlier posts). fished the last 45 minutes of the incoming tide for half a dozen bream and then the runout for another 4 hours.

The time just flew by we bagged 19 bream ranging from 28cm to 38cm, fought all the way to the boat with 2 shovel nose or banjo sharks not to sure which good fun though, we had multiple hook ups it was a great night. could of bagged many more if we had all our lines in the water more often. What I mean by that is a lot of time was wasted re-rigging hooks as 25% of the time the caught fish were left with the hooks all the way down Im not a big fan of pulling a hook out of a fishes insides I prefer to get it later.

Anyway here is a pick of the results

Hey BSJ,

Excellent effort. It seems the night is a bit better than the daytime.

Why? I bet it's the boat traffic factor.

My results on Saturday morning were slow on the bream/whiting, but as soon as the big NW started and boats left, the fish came on.

So what water depth do you fish in? Also, is there patches of weed/sand or mainly weed or mainly sand?

I don't fish at night bcos the wife doesn't like me being away from home at night with 2 young kids for her to look after. I'm just curious to see where the fish go at night on a high tide on a new moon, when prawns would be their main quarry. Also, what bait did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Keflapod,

Firstly thanx for the reply and what a coincidence, I had read your post and thought man I would love to know an early morning spot that produced a mixed bag like yours and just like yourself I seem to catch 3 to 1 of who ever else comes along with me. I would be more than happy to share the finer details with you, I have not been fishing the bay long and due to the success of this spot I really don’t try to explore much and once again like yourself my wife does not like it when I go out at night but I have no choice because I can’t find them in those numbers during the morning.

You would be very surprised at what I use for bait and most likely know the spot that I fish. The depth is generally anywhere from 2 to 4 meters of water. However as for the finer details you can email me on issay@live.com.au and I will be happy to swap my finer details with yours.

Mate thats a great session.

In regards to the night session , my brother and I PUT THE BOAT INTO SYDNEY HARBOUR AT 11.00PM

sUNDAY night and fished till 10 am Australia day and only managed three keeper bream for the table.

We sat at a public mooring and had fresh squid bait and butterflied yellowtail out, even had a livie out for no takers.

Cannot wait till our luck changes and the livies or butterflied baits land us a nice fish.

Twin 1
