kiro
G'day raiders, Was just curious.... I was told that the best way to clean your reel after a fish is with warm, soapy water (as cold water doesnt dissolve the salt)........and also....... not to rinse it under running water (hose etc...) as the pressure just forces all the salt particles further into your reel and line... SO....... i filled a bucket with warm soapy water, and DUNKED my reels in it... So i was wondering, is this bad for my reels, the fact that they were fully submerged under warm, soapy water?? your advice is greatly appreciated... Cheers raiders kiro
WANNAFISH
Its not advisable to dunk the reel in a bucket especially if its not fully water proof. You can clean reels with running (meaning not much pressure) water and with soap on a sponge and rinse again with water and dry up as much as you can to get rid of the excess water and then when its fully dry, spray and wipe with either Inox or Lanox spray (not WD40), which available at your nearest tackle shop. Apply oil at bearings exposed to salt like the line roller.
