SZ1 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hi Guys and Girl, Got back last weekend from a jigging trip to Perth, the whole idea was to go jigging to the Sambo, so once the G/F said lets go to the West for a Holiday and get you on a Sambo jigging charter I couldn't believe my ears . Sorry for the long read but all the reading on this forum had helped me prepare eveything for this trip. The idea was go up to Broome for 4day and just relax and do a bit of LB, thinking it would be all beach fishing I didn't take anything but a 10ft surf rod and a couple of 4-8kg urgly stick ( For durability and left the graphits at home). The main place we fished was The Town Deep water Jetty and boy did the fishing blow your mind, I went to the local tackle world for some local advice and he told me be prepared as you will get smoked. In the first half hour of arriving I got absolutly smoked by some hard run fish which found reef, this was at like 3pm in the middle of the afternoon. We left early as it was getting to hot, we returned that evening to be smoked by large sharks a number of time and landing a 50cm+ Glden travelly which put up a great account for him self on the G/F pink urgly stick (she hooked it, I dragged it up the jetty) she also hooked 2 tarpon which busted off while comming up the jetty. We went back to this place like everynight except for the nightit was closed and boy were we dissappointed, on our last night we went back and caught a tarpon and used him for bait as no local wanted as they say its only good for bait, so I used him for bait and hooked lots and lots of moonster of the deep, I saw the bottom of my spool a few time. That pretty much was Broome, awsome awsome fishing, can't waite to get back there again. Fishing a 100lb handline (copying the local) we hooked up to what looked like a large Cobia as it run on the surface before finding reef and leaving with him two line burn marks on my finger. We also got a huge sleeping shark to 1.5m+ on the hand line. Perth At Perth I had two Sambo jigging days organised Frist day The weather looked a bit hairy to only turn out to be perfect conditions. The jigging was unbelieveble, we got inin excess of of 25 Sambos on the boat in two hours, it was multiple hook ups on ever drift over the patch, this was 2 hours ride out of Freemental in 150m of water. The best part was I had a seat to jig on. we left the Sambo biting as others on the boat wanted to do a bit of bottom bashing. Second Day Great weather going out to behind Rottnest Island high hope on the run out from the day before, however today was a much harder day had to work very hard we even made a run out to the 180m mark, we had to keep moving as the fish was thin and weren't interested. I only managed a small Amberjack and decent Sambo for the day whylst alot of the angler didn't get a hook up or a fish, I think out of 14 anglers only 5 managed fish. Disappointment on everybodies face on the ride it. Now I am just looking forward to next Season as I meet quite a few fishing mate on this trip that we are keeping in contact and next season we will all be getting strecthed on the Sambo's again. Anyone know of any good Kingie jigging Charters in Sydney, don't mind travelling??? anyways I hope you enhiy the pics and the Video, if you every get a chance go to Perth in Jan and jig this hard pulling gaints, you won't regaret it. Gear used on this Trip: T-Curve Deep Jig 200 (Abit light for the application but perfomed excellcent, but don't tell the G/F as I think that Smith Ltd or Deep Jig 400 might need to be order for next year ) Shimano Stella 10000FA 80Lb Daiwa Dendoh multicoloured braid 150Lb leader 300g and 400g Jigs (Personal fav was thw Salt Water Lab slider jig in the 300g) http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=nuhr4QYTsgg http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=XPrZbwGK_lw Cheers, SZ

SZ1 Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) Thanks guys, it was definatly a great trip, it is only 11 months to go now till hopefully I make my way over again for the Sambos. They left me with an sore arm for a week but all it worth it, I remember at the end of the session bring a can of drink to my mouth was hurting already. We should round up some Raiders and all meet in Perth for a weekend of jigging the Sambo when the season is back that would be awsome. Next thing on the to do list to go poppering for some Keg size GT's Cheers, Sz Edited February 3, 2009 by SZ1
