slinkymalinky Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Hi all does anyone know how long it would take to get from pittwater to browns doing about 8 knot and also to the shelf from same location and speed Adzzy Barrenjoey to the shelf is about 26nm... 3 1/4 hours at 8 knots. Browns is waaay further... just not sure of the exact distance. Cheers, Slinky
locodave Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I don't think I would consider it at 8knots. We tried once in a 5.25 Metre boat, sort of calm day, we travelled 2 Kms in 40 minutes, not worth it!
Andy Loops Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Barrenjoey to the shelf is about 26nm... 3 1/4 hours at 8 knots. Browns is waaay further... just not sure of the exact distance. Cheers, Slinky Haha Slink - reckon we wouldn't have been doing much more than 8 knots when we went down to Browns from Broken Bay in that North Easterly. I think it was about 65km from Barrenjoey to Browns which is about 36nm?? Apologies if conversion is off. Its a long way anyway... further than Norah Canyons which is about 50km NE of Barrenjoey or 28nm. In these NE's possibly a better run would be to head to Norah in the morning then run back with the NE behind you in the afternoon. That is what I am thinking of doing this weekend or next..

Thankfully it was only the last bit over the 100 fathom line that got ugly... with that beautiful rig of yours Andy a lot of the time we were doing closer to 25kn on the way out I reckon. On the way back in when the water calmed off I don't remember actually touching the water very much Hope you find some fish at the canyons. I'm geared up to chase beakies out of my little 4.8 Quinnie now since you can reliably catch them within swimming distance of the beach on the Gold Coast... saw one caught in 15m of water over sand a few weeks ago!! Tight lines Andy... Hope you find a nice spot within easy reach Adzzy Cheers, Slinky
