srxwat4 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hi Guys , Went out last Wednesday to pump worms at Chipping Norton Lakes and could only manage two after pumping for half an hour , usually have enough for the day in this time . Could this be due to disease or has someone pumped them all out? This area has been great for bait over the last couple of years and now looks as if it is back to servo prawns . Any ideas .

Any ideas . was it low tide? low tide u'll get more. Also one thing to note is that while iwas pumping there 3 months ago, some local told me that i'm not allowed to pump for worms anymore b/c it's damaging the environment. He said there were so many people coming all the time and the council no longer allows this. He said there ave heavy penalty for what we are doing. i don't know whether it's true or not, but i left after he said that.
srxwat4 Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Yeah it was low tide and the pumped sand smelt a bit off , I have had no trouble in the past getting worms here . I don't think the local council has jurisdiction over the gathering of bait at low tide and I have not heard of any bans on the Georges .It could be a spill of some kind upriver , who knows .
Little Hooker Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 srxwat4, i feel your pain. I went out there about a month ago tryin to get me worms which i did get a decent amount but it sure was hard work as i had to move around to many spots. I think its all wormed out due to the fact of ppl jus taking way to much over the yrs!!!
snag Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) Too many people pumping blood worms in chippo, ive never gone down for a fish without seeing 4 to 5 people busy pumping away in the usual spots, its gotta have an effect some time.
