GregL Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 WOW Just got the new Jap Shimano and Daiwa catologues in post Them Japs have some nice stuff..... Daiwa catalogue is 275 pages and the Shimano is 330!! Now only if I could read Japanese but who ever reads the "articles" in Penthouse LOL Now I just have to keep Pat away from them so the pages don't get stuck together.... Ize Factory bream/bass rods with leather grips for approx $1600 The new jigging rods just look amazing, just a pitty most of this stuff we will never get to see in this country Greg
arpie Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Oh dear, if it upsets you, dont' look!! I just drool when I see new stuff that I know I'll never be able to afford! Virtually my whole rod collection is '2nd hand' & I still dream of getting a custom Ian Miller Bream flick stick one day! I held a buddy's recently & was amazed at how light & strong they are. Dreams are free If there is a way, you'll find it! Roberta
Chris 55 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Greg just focus ............... remember no finesse gear bluewater tackle only now I hope this reminder helps Chris
GregL Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Pitty Daiwa has put back the release of the Saltiga leaver drag game reels another year Worst part is they don't have the SLT's in stock in this country either! Looks like I might have to go back to Shimano for the first time in 4 years! At least when you buy game gear it feels like you have bought something worth that much, when you spend $1000+ on a bream reel you feel ripped off when it only weighs 180gm...... One thing that I noticed alot of the new rods don't have grips on the rod butts and interline style rods are on the come back.... G
jewgaffer Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 (edited) ............. when you spend $1000+ on a bream reel you feel ripped off when it only weighs 180gm...... G I agree Greg especially when a starved bream that has to eat metal weighs less than half a cent a gram Cheers jewgaffer Edited February 13, 2009 by jewgaffer
fisho1990 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 how do you get these catalogues?? are they free?
pjbink Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I got a Daiwa Tournament HT Mag a few weeks ago (just before the price rise). It's a distance casting overhead. Quite unique in that the mag control varies during the cast to maximise distance.
Roffo Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Greg, It can't hurt to grab half a dozen just in case lol. Cheers Roffo
Guest Big-Banana Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I stopped reading at $1,600 for factory bream and bass rods. Dont forget bream can be caught on anything from a handline and piece of bread upwards. $1,600 for a bream rod, u'd have to be stark raving mad wouldnt ya? You'd have to be f*cking mad!!!
hottyscotty Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 shame the exchange rates are shite! otherwise i would be buying up big time on my recent trip
martymonsta Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Check out some pics from the 2009 Japan International sportfishing Show. Some sweet looking gear there too http://www.tackletour.com/reviewjts2009.html

jlloyd Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Was in Shibuya recently at Joshuya and Sensui tackle shops, had to leave as drool was flooding the stores, with exchange rates as they are unless the items are Japanese market only there is not much difference in prices (untill Aussie prices rise of course). Unfortunuately my budgetted only extended to some new yamashita and yo-zuri squid jigs and a Penn Spinfisher 6500 SS J reel from 1999. The range of squid jigs alone is worth the price of admission (ticket to Narita, Tokyo's airport)
