Hodgey Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Sadly, another boating incident on Sydney water News report Hodgey
pelican Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Very sad to hear of yet another boating reated death. Another fisherman died last weekend as well as a friend worked in the same comapany told me and it didn't make the papers so everyone please keep it safe as it is happening far too often.. Can't count the number of time I have been jolted and unseated in a tinny as a kid and we never wore the lanyard as they didn't exist. We once tried stoppig a mates tinny doing circles at low throttle and that wasn't easy and swore never again to have the throttle twist grip tension set so it wouldn't return to idle. I have a longer than normal lanyard on the tinny we have now to try and encourage anyone at the helm to use it and it really isn't that big a pain to keep attached. Last year we helped a guy swimming to shore and then realised it was his boat that had run up the beach without him over near Watsons. Scared the hell out of a couple of morning walkers who turned the motor off. Maybe someone needs to find a better solution that is more user friendly than the lanyard. tide'n'knots Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I once saved a guy from certain death under the road bridge at brooklyn years ago. This idiot was drunk in a flatbottomed oyster boat with a milk crate for a seat. The milk crate went from under him and he was thrown out the side of the boat, I was fishing with another guy under the bridge and he just happened to fall out right in the light of the bridge and i just happened to see it. We were the only boat out that night because it was pissing down rain and he was lucky enough to fall out where we were. By the time we reached him he was ready to go under from exhustion. He should have bought a lottery ticket!!!!
