SimJ Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Does anyone have any advice on using live bait, such as yakkas and squid, from a wharf/jetty? Each time I have tried, the livey tied itself up on the pylons. Is casting it ok? Cheers, Simmo
xtosea Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Cast it away from the wharf and use a sinker, what were you fishing for? A fish wont have a problem picking the fish up off the bottom if its there.

Cheers, Simmo Hi Simmo With the live squid just lob it out with no weight on, it will head for the bottom and won't go very far off a wharf or jetty in reasonably calm water ......... Rig the livie so that it's swimming away from you with enough lead to sent it down, and cast out into a colour change if you can....... Open the spool and you will notice that the livie will take up the slack in the right direction ... You'll get used to giving it a tease with the rod tip and keep jigging it occasionally and sool it up a bit when necessary. Cheers jewgaffer
