Croft Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone knows how ecumbene has been going lately. It looks like I'm going camping there this weekend. I reckon with the drop in temperature it should go allright this weekend so am planning on heading up with my mate and both of our :wife: I am planning on sticking a rod in with power bait or Mudeyes... any ideas on rigs? I will also flick lures from the shore with my other rod and wondered what colour tazzie devils are working at the moment, or spinners etc... Thanks guys!
tentonner Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Hey mate, I fish Eucumbene twice a year most years. Don't think the fishing is generally very good at this time of the year but you never know i guess. I've found the colour of tassie devils to use around this time are darker patterns of browns, golds and yellows as opposed to the bright sparkly red, blue and oranges that are more effective just after and before spawning in the winter. Be sure to let me know how you go as I find it hard to find out how the lake is going when im not there myself.
arpie Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 It was 'hot as' fishing about 4 weeks ago .... before the real hot weather. A buddy caught 30 rainbows & browns (mainly browns) to 2kg from the shore at Buckenderra. Jindy wasn't firing at all back then. Roberta

I wouldn't have thought it was a good time either, but a couple of mates killed it 2 weeks ago... so i guess we'll see.. Thanks!

Hi mate, I just got back from Ecumbene Sunday. Me and a couple of mates caught 13 brown and 3 rainbows down from Buckenderra. We used mudeyes and green and brown tassie devils. Seen a couple of brown snakes down there too. Would be interested to see how you went. Tom
Croft Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Hi Tom, were you camping across the other side to the caravan park?... we were camping at the caravan park and just went down to the shore which kind of turns into a river, near the boat ramp. We actually had a terrible weekend with just about no result I wasn't sure if it was because of the spot we chose, or the weather or gear or what... Now i guess it was the gear and maybe spot, we were using brighter colour tazzie devils (because it was quite overcast) like the pinks and bright greens, but got nothing. We also found that every single cast brought back weed and grass on the lure (which is obviously not going to get anything...) So maybe we weren't in a good spot.. Did you get any on the lures? There was a guy trolling his tinny and hooking up right in front of us, which was annoying

He is the general when it comes to fishing for trout. Ask the nice people on reception and they will put you in touch with where he is fishing etc. Good luck Tom
