Fenwickinho Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Hey Raiders, I'm thinking of doing a bit of fishing for squid soon Are there any particular good spots around the northern beaches? Or in Roseville? And what is the best way to retrieve the jig? Can any other lures be used? Thanks so much guys! Fenwickinho

Fenwickinho ant of the headlands should see some good squid around when the swell settles down a tad. also try the inside of palm beach on the jetty in pittwater for good southerns. Cheers, Adrian.

Fenwickinho roseville looked pretty brown yesterday. i don't think that is too conducive to good squidding... i think they're a visual hunter - just have a look at those massive eyes. palm beach used to be good but the wharf tends to get a pounding by the squidders (myself included in the past). slow retrieves, close to bottom, quality japanese jigs and various colours are essential. i prefer the duel and daiwa jigs. bigger jigs for bigger squid. don't be afraid to go 3.0 or bigger, even small squid will hit them. good luck.
Fenwickinho Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Ok Cheers! Btw, is there a size limit for squid? At what size are they generally big enough for eating?

Juzza Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Is there a general size/length when they are good enough for eating? Id assume all sizes are good for eating and bait! Keep the bigger ones for you to eat and smaller ones for kiggie/jewie baits Justin
