Guest Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 G'day mates. I got a new spin rod and found a small thing before grip. Never use this kind thing, anyone know what it is and how to use? Thanks! Its a lure or hook holder, for when your rigged rod is not in use. Regards Stewy
gooddong Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Thanks mate. I thought it might a line guide.
WANNAFISH Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Very handy those hook keepers. Atleast u dont have to choose which guide to hang the into.
Davemmm Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 i wish all rods came with it! It doesn't seem to matter how much you clean them they rust eventually. Dave
urchin Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 its always very nifty having one of them on your rods, especially if youre land based and are moving around a lot.
DarkHorse Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It is funny some cheaper rods have them and some of the more expensive models dont. I think they are great, lures dont flap around in the breeze or damage the guides. My new g-loomis rod didnt have one which I was VERY surprised about as most of their models do. Fuji make a UV resistant plastic holder which is held in place by a small rubber o-ring. The holder can be folded down when not being used. I got mine from RodWorks: Fuji Sliding EZ Hook Keeper Although it seems that the price has nearly trippled???? Fantastic little invention. Regards, Rob
braddles Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Its a lure/hook holder.... I wish all my rods had one... there so handy.
Roffo Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I just cable tye a small split ring above the handle which seems to work really well. Cheers Roffo
