arpie Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hi All Not long back from a morning on the water with Jani - we headed off at 8.30am & fished the same area we fished so well yesterday ...... all I can say is THANK GOD WE WENT OUT YESTERDAY AS WELL!! Today, we got NOTHING!!! ZIPPO!! DOUGHNUT! Yesterday, the flatties were jumping in & out of the yaks!! At least the weather was really nice today as well .... matter of fact, it was really, really hot & we both felt like little grease spots on the floor! We only saw the one fish caught today, whereas yesterday, heaps were caught by one & all! Once bloke hooked a terrific flattie from shore & instead of standing up & lifting it out from the breakwall, remained seated & dragged it up the rocks .... it fell back twice & he dragged it up again .... so I wasn't surprised when the line snapped on his third effort to drag it up on the rocks!! I offered to net it for him next time! Luckily, this is a case of 'ya shoulda been there yesterday' ...... and we were! Yesterday, we hit the water just before lunch & after Jani tried fresh bait for an hour with no bites ...... (I had already dropped a really nice one, as I'd attempted to 'swim' it over to Jani so he could see it.) Then he put on the Squidgy Fish that I had rigged up for him & gave that a go! Second cast & he is on!! AMAZING!!! A Natural!! His First flattie, his First fish in a Kayak, his first fish with his new Rod & reel - a History of PBs already!! A few casts later & he has another one!! In the mean time, i could only land small ones, & thought I'd given my Mojo to Jani when, whack! I'm on to another good one! 52cm Jani wanted a good pic of its mouth!! Yani enjoyed paddling round in the yak & had no problems with the tide. It was as if he'd been yakking all his life!! Now he wants one (or a canoe) when he gets home! Jani & Saija are heading south to Nelson Bay tomorrow & should be back in Sydney soon after that! Look out Blue Mountains ..... Jani has Trout on his fishing list now :) It was great fun getting out with you, Jani - I hope the weather stays 'nice' for the remainder of your time in AUssie & hope your travels in Thailand goes well too! Cheerio for now Roberta

slicendice Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) Great report yet again. I saw a bloke pull in a huge flattie near the bridge while I was at the park with the little fella this morning(on the tuncurry side). I went over to have a look and he showed me his keeper bag with two more large flatties and two impressive bream. All three of the flatties would have been 55cm+. glennmreid Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Great fish Robrerta & Jani. Good to see our vistors getting into some great flatties. Good stuff Roberta
Jewhunter Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Shame it didn't turn it on 2 days in a row for you guys. That was a top session Roberta. They are some quality fish . Thank goodness Yani got a day without rain to fish with you. It was terrible while he was here. You are once again showing us your true Fishraider spirit. Cheers, Grant.
