Tiger Cam Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Apologies for the late post. I spent the better part of the festive season at the in-laws whom near Nowra with a couple of days at Bega to boot. Naturally the boat and fishing gear accompanied me every kilometre. So I was fortunate enough to spend some early mornings on the Shoalhaven and Bega Rivers. One of my Christmas gifts was a Green Back Switchblade which I have never used before. I thought I’d practice my casting in the in-laws pool on Christmas day . Candid photo courtesy of FIL. Next morning I knew of a spot in the Shoalhaven where I could unleash it. First cast was long and with great anticipation I started to wind back slowly when it snagged…..oh oh …..snap…….sh!te Oh well ….back to the plastics. Here are some of the fish taken with the SP that did the damage: I am now officially an SP convert Cheers, Cam
Hodgey Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Nice report Cam, about a beautiful part of the coast. You managed to catch some terrific fish ... those flatties were in great condition! The candid photo is a classic mate! Well done. Sounds like you had a top holiday Cheers Hodgey
slinkymalinky Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 That sunrise shot is a beauty Cam... and people wonder why we get obsessed by fishing?? What sort of fish do you normally get in that little private water mate? Now that you're a full on plastics convert you'll have to start watching your bank account closely, it will now be literally impossible to walk into a tackle store and walk out without at least a packet of tails or jig heads. Cheers, Slinky
glennmreid Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Great bag of fish. Lovely part of the south coast.
BFB Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Tiger Cam, Some great fish. I am going down to the Shoalhaven River next weekend, could you let me in on some of spots where fish like those may be located.

Another area is along the edge of the weed beds on the southern side between Broughton Creek and Comerong Island for flathead, bream and whiting. You could also try "the wall" opposite the Nowra golf club for EP's, but try and get there early as it's a popular spot for pleasure craft, particularly on the w/e. Good luck and look forward to your report. Cheers, Cam
Tiger Cam Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 What sort of fish do you normally get in that little private water mate? Slinky, I sometimes feel like I have more success there I haven't lost a lure there yet! Now that you're a full on plastics convert you'll have to start watching your bank account closely, it will now be literally impossible to walk into a tackle store and walk out without at least a packet of tails or jig heads. Cheers, Slinky I recently returned from a store with more SP's than I intended to originally purchase. Before I hit the cash register I picked up a fry pan for the When I returned home I gave her the fry pan (in a seperate bag of course) only to discover I left the reciept with all my purchases in that bag!!! Cheers, Cam
