clem Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hey! What's new when it comes to me and posting reports.I must be the worst raider in history with all my "success" Went to barrenjoey but ended up on the southern side of palm beach around the corner by the pool. Not a single nibble and after 3hours I decided to go to the western side of barrenjoey to try and chase up some tailor. Well you guessed it! NOT A SINGLE BITE/ACTION. The only fun I had was walking back through the jungle with rain showering all over me.It was like I was young again playing sport in the rain. Anyway Cheers Clem
Basil D Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 yep you said it, shait happens but you had fun
Davemmm Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Sounds like my wednesday except I got wet all morning then sunburnt in the arvo cause I left the cream at home. and no fish Dave
jewgaffer Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hi Clem, you might have been cold, wet and miserable today but you did well to get out there and you'll find that you'll learn a lot from the experience. Fishing can be like that when the weather is cold and out of season for days on end in summer. Keep at it mate. After a few more sessions you will find that todays session was actually the start of a roll and you'll realise that it was not a wasted session at all. Cheers jewgaffer
slinkymalinky Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Still... got to get out on the water. It's the days we do it tough that make the good days seem so special and keep us coming back for more. Hope you smack em next time. Cheers, Slinky

ROB are you not glad you could not make it. Clem I used to fish the northern end of Palm Beach out on the headland for many years. It is a bit of a hike around the rocks. Best to go out once in daylight. Once you get to the point avoid the front of the point as the waves break overr the shallow edge and is is very dangerous, but inside the point you will see a ledge out by a gutter which is relatively safe as it is out of the main break. This area produces tailor, bream, jewfish, and snapper, with tailor and bream being the mainstay and most fish in the first 2 hours after daybreak. All rockfishing precautions apply here, watch the waves for 10 minutes before fishing and give it a miss in heavy swell, but it is a relatively safe area. Fish I pulled in here include a 22lb snapper and a 30lb Jew, but run of the mill catch would be 3 or 4 nice tailor and a good bream. Fish are caught on unweigthed pilchards or floated pilly bits. If you are inexperianced at rockfishing go with someione who knows the ropes. Regards Saltrix Edited February 22, 2009 by saltrix

Regards Saltrix Hey there. This ledge you are talking about is it on the northern or southern end?It might sound silly to you but I have hiked those rocks once and it is not an everyday thing to do.The catch you are mentioning is however a good reason for me to return. Thanks Clem
