Illawong Landbased

Well thought I would put up my first post on actually catching something. Was fishing today around lunch at Illawong. Didn't expect to catch too much as it was a few hours from the tide going out but thought I'd give it a go anyway. Only had some beef strips and also put out a homemade poddy trap.

Caught a couple of just under size bream and when I checked my trap, no poddies but it had about 10 baby prawns in there. So I thought to myself, why not put on a tiny hook and sinker and see how they go. Second one out lands a 34cm whiting, woohoo . Had some close calls on the others but only a few undersize whiting. So it looks like whiting on the menu tonight.

All in all, I was pretty chuffed.

That is being pretty innovative, glad it paid off and you got a nice fish.

Im a regular at Illawong and have been quite successful the past few trips, good work on using those small prawns there.
