adzzy Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Hi guys what was i doing wrong today? I fished my local jetty today when suddenly a s*#t load of kings turned up smashing little bait fish about 20-30mm long on the surface. I flicked all kinds of sp's, lures and bait through them for more than half hour with no luck slow, fast on the surface let them sink give it a twitch i mean come on what else do i need to do it was so frustrating i matched the bait fish as best i could but obviously not good enough any ideas Adzzy
brickman Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 you proberly need to catch what there feeding on or use a black fish hook and a peeled prawn or the same hook and a tiny peace off pilly fillet they are suckers for the blackfish hook GARY
tide'n'knots Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I once threw bread pieces around a channel marker and watched as a kingie casually cruised out and scoffed pieces then went back under the channel marker. I slipped a smallish hook into a piece of bread and let it drift back naturally with the rest, a kingie cruised up looked at it then swam away and ate another piece of bread!! very frustrating! Pete.
chocofallon Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 A couple of months back we hit rose bay ramp and watched the water boiling around the moorings. Kings and salmon feeding on a billion bait fish. For an hour and a half we cast everything imaginable at them hard body lures, fresh squid, Sp's had a couple of hits and misses but caught none was so frustrating. If I only had a harpoon in the tackle box I reckon I would have used it. Knowing my luck that day I would have missed
