slinkymalinky Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Went out for a quiet family fish this morning... hit the water at the Sundale Bridge at about 6.30am (at least, I think that's what it's called... still getting used to the new area) We started out the day catching herring as livies and very soon had about 20 swimming around in the tank and then hit a range of 'spot X's' around the broadwater and seaway trying to get a bit of fishing done while avoiding the insanely busy weekend boat and jet ski traffic. Little Slinky has been a little quiet on the fishing front for a few months but put the first score on the board with a beautiful (and her first & therefore her PB) 35cm Spangled Emperor. Hopefully her next one will be a keeper I'm still getting used to the amazing diversity of species up here... in only 3 trips so far my boat has caught 10 quality fish species... and no, Sargent Baker, Herring and Red Rock Cod weren't counted) We headed off to another little drift and Mrs Slinky came to the fore landing a couple of nice Dusky Flathead of 42 and 48cm, and a first for her too... a Gold Spot Trevally of about 800g that fought like stink on her 10lb braid outfit. I had a great day spectating and 'guiding'... I just love seeing my family catch fish!! See you on the water, Slinky

Hodgey Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Woo hoo! Well done Slinky Ladies! Good to see Little Slinky back to her old form ... the photos of her and her fish are crackers! You're having a great time down there exploring your new waterway mate. Plenty of places to play in, and a huuuge diversity of fish. Keep the reports (and the photos) coming! Skip
Kirks Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) hey Slinky Excellent session mate. The Gold coast always produces new and exciting fish. Not as good as NSW waters though mate you Cane toad hahhah. Cheers Steve Edited February 28, 2009 by Kirkby

cat-as-trophy Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Top one Slinky, and good to see Gemma catching again. Seems like you have been blessed up ther in Cane Toad country, a new "office" and an enormous new playground for fishing. What more could a guy want. Keep the reports coming. I am extremely jealous. Cheers Mrs Flightmanager
jewgaffer Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Good to see you and the girls getting into more of the Gold Coast action Tony. If I was up there myself at this time of year, the first thing I would do is arrange to meet you and Jewhunter for a night session with heavy beach rods and flying gaffs and fish slabs of fresh bait behind the breakers at the end of the sand spit jetty at Surfers, starting off around ten o'clock at night and fishing from well before the top and down the run out tide...... It's good water up there and, if you do well on other fish and miss out on the jewfish, all hell can break loose with the sharks particularly if it is a gloomy and blowy night and uncomfortable to be out there. Cheers jewgaffer
Jewhunter Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Nice stuff Slinky. Great pics of both the Spangled & Trev mate. Sooo many 1sts & sooooo many more to go!! Cheers, Grant.
