a mate took me to a new spot this morning for bream and drummer so armed with my 650 alvey and 6wrap rod heaps of bread headed out to rock platform at 5.30 am after2hrs mate had 1 big bream and 1 drummer both about 1kg all i could hook was the bottom lost about 15 hooks and just as much sheet lead

mate said he had seen blackies caught near the corner of this platform so whacked on a float on 20lb mono with a6lb trace

the alvey felt so heavy compared to bblackie gear fist cast i got a down :1yikes: and a good size fish

for the next hour managed 8 solid fish 1 after the other then they went off the bite

turned out to be a good morning after all

Onya Peter. That "slow start" sure ended with a flourish! 8 solid fish in an hour is pretty good and well worth the wait.

Sounds like theres some fish there where you need to up your gear with. Nice session you had today, if only i could get out! Its always fun to explore and use different techniques on new spots and be sucessful with them.

Hi Pete,

it is nice to find another productive spot to catch your favorite blackies, isnt it!! Must have been very frustrating to have done all those hooks in the initial learning curve.

Good to know that they are still around.

cheers
